Mildred Lowry, age 81

Mildred Virginia Harrington Lowry was born in Frost, Texas to John and Velma (Southard) Harrington. She graduated from Avalon High School where she was a star basketball player and married B.V. Lowry March 28, 1947 in Hillsboro, Tx. Mildred worked with Ella Bennett Beauty Shop (Aunt Sis)and later she became owner of Lowry Beauty Shop- working from 1963 to 2007. She loved fixing the hair of all her customers (friends) for many years. She was voted "Friendlest Employee of the Month" by Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Ellis County Art Association and was very talented in oil and china painting. She enjoyed traveling on Citizen National Bank trips with Aunt Ethel and their friends and was a big Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboy fan. She was a member ot the Maypearl Methodist Church.
Mrs. Lowry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband B.V. Lowry; an infant son, Sammy Joe Lowry; a very special son-in-law, Mike Adkins; her sister Diane Watson; and her brothers Bobby Joe Harrington and Billy Guthrie.
She is survived by her children; Raymon Lowry of Ennis, Kay Adkins of Waxahachie, and Debbie Keeton of Maypearl, Grandchildren: Matthew T Adkins of Blooming Grove, Robin Adkins King of Waxahachie, Michael Chad Adkins of Blooming Grove and Rebecca Lowry of Lexington , VA. Great Grandchildren: Riley Kujawa, Montana and McKenzie Adkins and Michael and Mykayla Adkins.
Also Surviving are: Sisters Linda Elliott and Jane Cooper of Avalon, Brother, Robin Guthrie of Houston, Sister in Law Nellie Lowry and Brother in Law Kels Lowry, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 PM Friday evening at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Graveside Services are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday October 24, 2009 at the Waxahachie City Cemetery with Marvin Mott officiating.
The family wishes to thank Pleasant Manor and Odyssey Hospice for their care and support.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Maypearl or the Ellis County SPCA.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home- Waxahachie.
