Mildred Ann Adkins, age 74

Mrs. Adkins, lifetime Ellis County resident, passed away Monday evening at Baylor Medical Center, Dallas. She was born in Nash, TX. to Temp and Lillie Mae (Keenom) Kelley. Mildred attended schools at Forreston and Waxahachie. She married C. D. Adkins on July 25, 1952 in Rockwall, Texas. She helped her husband on the farm and employed as a seamstress for Flexsteel for 21 years. Her life was her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, yard work, music and reading. She was known by her family as "A Go Getter". She was a member of the South Prong Baptist Church, Waxahachie.
Her survivors include: her husband, C. D. Adkins, Jr., of Waxahachie; daughters, Pat Gregory and husband Terry of Waxahachie, Laura James and husband Charlie Joe of Ferris; brother, Tom Kelley and wife Nadine of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Casey and Kim Gregory, Dean Gregory, Leanne Gregory Kepley and David, Chad and Wyndi Adkins, Robin and Mike King, Matt and Melissa Adkins, Shane and Jenny James, Michael and Mandy James, and Jessica James; great grandchildren, Ethan Gregory, Sydney James, Ellie James, Mykayla Adkins, Michael Temp Adkins, Riley Kujawa, Montana Adkins and McKenzie Adkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Mike Adkins, daughter, Belinda Nan "Lindy" Adkins; brothers, Jim Kelley and Sam Kelley and sister, Helen Brown.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Friday, November 25, 2005 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Walter Buchanan officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Casey Gregory, Dean Gregory, Chad Adkins, Matt Adkins, Shane James, Michael James; and nephews, Keith Shinn and Billy Shinn. Honorary Pallbearers will be: N. B. Marks, Cecil Parsons, James Jones, Tommy James, Dick Brown, Dickie Adkins, Kenneth Adkins, Harty Adkins, Jimmie Cade Adkins, Kelley Brown, Bud Brannon, Oscar Shinpaugh, Charles Adkins, John Adkins, Darrell Schliep, Bryce Brown, and Jacob Adkins. Interment will follow in the Forreston Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
