Michael "Mike" Temp Adkins, age 53

Mike, a lifetime Waxahachie resident, passed away Wednesday evening at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie. Being born in Waxahachie, Mike graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1968 and was a graduate from Hill Junior College. He and Kay Lowry were married May 3, 1973 in Oklahoma. Mike farmed in Ellis County prior to being a self employed trucker. His last career move was owner/operator of MTA Excavation. He kept kids involved in High School Rodeo. He was a loving husband of thirty years, father and grandfather. Mike loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, camping with family and friends and enjoyed his coffee buddies at the Waffle House. He was a member of the South Prong Baptist Church.
Mike is survived by: his wife, Kay Adkins; his mother, Mildred Adkins and C. D. Adkins and C. D. Adkins, both of Waxahachie; two sons, Matthew Adkins and his wife Melissa of Blooming Grove, Michael Chad Adkins and his wife Wyndi of Waxahachie; daughter, Robin Adkins Kujawa of Waxahachie; sisters, Pat Adkins Gregory of Waxahachie and Laura Adkins James and husband Charlie Joe of Ferris; mother-in-law, Mildred Lowry; sister-in-law, Debbie; Uncle Tom Kelley; five grandchildren, Riley Kujawa, Montana and McKenzie Adkins, Michael and Mykayla Adkins; and his little dog "Lucy". He was preceded in death by one sister, Lindy and Granpaw Temp Kelley.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Saturday, July 19, 2003 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Walter Buchanan officiating. Pallbearers will be Terry Fincher, Billy Robinson, Rick Rollins, James Brogdon, Larry Osteen, and Mike Frisbee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam McIntire, Glen Seabolt, Tommy Menser and Payne Roye. Interment will follow in the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian School, 1109 Brown St., Waxahachie, Texas 75165
