On October 26, 2012, Michael Dale Cayard passed away at his residence in Palmer, Tx. Mike was born on May 7, 1956, in New Orleans, La., to Earl E Cayard Jr. and Juanita Bullard Cayard. He grew up in Tyler, Tx, where he graduated from John Tyler High School in 1975. He was a proud member of the JT Lions State Football Championship team of 1973. Mike attended Louisiana Tech University and went on to a career spent in the oil & gas industry. He worked for several different O&G companies and followed the jobs located in West Texas, New Mexico, Dallas, Lafayette, La., Houston, and Ft Worth. He was currently employed at EOG Resources as the Division Materials Manager, Fort Worth Division. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Earl Jr., and his brother Earl E Cayard III. Mike is survived by the lights of his life, his children and their spouses, Chris & Marie Cayard of Texas City, Tx, and Carolyn & Josh Hollum of Jefferson, Ga.; his treasured grandchildren C.J. and Mia Cayard and Gavin Hollum; his mother, Juanita Cayard of Tyler, Tx.; siblings and their spouses: Connie & John McClung, Colleen & Ed Kelly, Mary & Conny Eikner, Ginny Cayard, and Richard & Mona Cayard; several nieces and nephews; his former wife Leta Winters; his former in-laws Dixie and Tom Nelson; and a host of friends and colleagues in the oil industry. Graveside services, with interment of his ashes in the Cayard Family plot, will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2400 S Donnybrook Ave., Tyler, Tx, at 11:00 am on Fri., Nov. 9, 2012, with Rev. Justin Braun officiating. The family will greet friends at a celebration of Mike's life afterwards in the Cathedral Center at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Mike's memory.
