Michael Lynn Brown, 63 of Waxahachie, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 in Waxahachie. He was born to Ezra and Earline Shook Smith on November 14, 1948 in Waxahachie. Michael graduated from Sunset High in Dallas in 1967. He attended University of North Texas in Denton. Michael was Founder and CEO of SkillsNET Enterprises, Ltd and SkillsNET Europe, Ltd. In 2006 the organization became a member of the top 500 fastest growing companies as recognized by Inc Magazine. He was the IEEE LTSC information officer, Co-chair of the IEEE Competency Working Group, a Charter Member of the Ontology Outreach Advisory (OOA), contributing scientist to the Leonardo di Vinci TRACE project, and Advocate advisor for the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) and co-skill standards architect for Object Management Group (OMG), Japan Skills System. In addition, he was Founder and Chairman of the SkillsNET Foundation (a not for profit organization) that was established to support the Skill and Competency Open Resource Environment (SCORE). Michael was a member and trustee of Farley Street Baptist Church, in Waxahachie. He taught Sunday school and served as financial advisor to various church committees. He was a current trustee of the Baptist Missionary Loan Association (BMA of Texas). He was a former board member of Lifeword Media Ministries (BMA of America). Michael was a member of The Gideons International. Michael will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother-in-law, and uncle; but, it was his generosity and spirit of giving that reached out far beyond family ties to friends and community. Michael's exuberant and enthusiastic personality left a definite imprint on the hearts and lives of all whom he came in contact. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Brown of Waxahachie; his sons, Dustin William Brown of Lubbock, Jason Michael Brown and his wife, Courtney of Dallas; his daughter, Loryn Elizabeth Leonard and her husband, Joseph of Waxahachie; his mother, Earline Shook Gosa of Waxahachie; his brother, Kendric Earl Brown and his wife, Teresa of Royce City; 3 grandchildren, Brooke, Bailey and Ransom Owen Brown and one more granddaughter, Juniper Leonard, on the way. He was preceded in death by his father, Ezra Smith, and grandparents, Earl B. and Della Mae Smith. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Farley Street Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Smith officiating, under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Red Oak Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Farley Street Baptist Church.
