M.F. Phillips, Jr.

July 22, 1935 — June 1, 2013

M.F. "Smokey" Phillips, Jr., 78 of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away Saturday, June 01, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to the late Marion F. & Rachel Spann Phillips in Italy, Texas on July 22, 1934. After high school Smokey joined and served in the U. S. Army. He owned and operated AAA Pools and Services in the Dallas Ft. Worth Area for many years. He then went to work for the City of Grand Prairie for seventeen years with the streets department until his retirement. Smokey was a member of the Evangel Temple Baptist Church for many years. He will be dearly missed by his family and everyone who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his daughters Edith Phillips, Terri Phillips and Glenda and husband Phil Hanson of West Chicago, Illinois their children: David Olson of Ft. Worth, Heather and Sam Hojat of San Antonio, Katie Hanson and Briana Hanson of Oak Grove; 1 Brother: Royce Phillips of Waxahachie; 3 Sisters: Nina Moore of Red Oak, TX., Evie Allen of Ennis, Texas and Joyce Stewart of Waxahachie, Texas. Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Smokey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jodie Phillips in 2010; 1 Brother: Jessie Phillips and 2 Sisters: Margaret Jenkins and Evelyn Hocutt. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 04, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie with Walter Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Waxahachie. Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie. http://www.waynebozefuneralhome.com/
