Mel, age 81, of Waxahachie passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007. He was born April 2, 1925 in Red Oak, Texas to Eddie and Willie May (Stansbury) Curry. He retired from Continental Electronics after 25 years of service as an inspector. Mel also served his country during World War II in France. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and for many years raising cattle and horses. He was an avid traveler and loved to gamble. Mel enjoyed going to eat, drinking and partying with all that would join in.
His survivors include his loving and caring niece Janet Marie who was by his side at death and throughout the past thirty years; two sons, Melvin Curry Jr. and Mike Simms of Dallas; nieces Sandra and Ruth Curry, great niece Jennifer Lynn and two great-great nieces, Taylor and Tiffany. Also surviving are six godchildren, Brandi, Mandi, Bo, Su-Ling, Susan and Shaun; great-godchildren, Jordan and Hayden; two special friends, Bonnie Bray and Joy Parten, along with many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brother, and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Bo Bray, Michael Gibbs, Shaun Liang, Quan Lam, Jason Griggers, and David Honza. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Fowler, Marc Moziek, and Nick Mcafee.
The family received friends and relatives Saturday, March 17th from 6 to 9 pm at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.. The graveside service and interment will be at 2 pm, Monday, March 19, at Mountain Peak Cemetery with Reverend Larry V. Nulisch Sr. officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
