Maxine Linnea Quistad, 92 was welcomed into her Savior's arms on November 17, 2022 in Midlothian Texas.
Maxine was born in Willmar, Minnesota to Swedish immigrants Axel and Jenny Swanson. She treasured her days growing up on the farm and in high school where she played cello in the orchestra. Maxine earned her teaching certificate in the state of Minnesota, and taught in a country school. She was active in the church youth group where she met her husband of 69 years, Jim Quistad. The couple married and moved to Minneapolis to attend North Central Bible College and start a family. Maxine was a dedicated wife and mother who embraced motherhood with a passion. She loved to laugh and play around the house with her kids, take camping vacations, and attend the many musical performances of her family. During these years she served as Sunday School superintendent, nursing home ministry pianist, and later a nursery school teacher. In retirement, Maxine and Jim moved to South Daytona, Florida for 20 years, enjoyed being near the beach and being active in their church, and in 2019 moved to Texas to be near their daughter. At their senior residence, Maxine was the pianist for the weekly hymn sing and made many good friends. All of her life, she loved riding her bike, and continued this as much as she could well past her 90th birthday. She truly lived life to the fullest.
Preceding Maxine in death were her parents, Axel and Jenny Swanson, son, Jeff Quistad, and sister LaVerne Goodsen. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim, son Mike and wife Sheri of Ocala, Florida, daughter Jan Bridges and husband Kermit of Waxahachie, Texas, and son Mark and wife Carleen of Bloomington, Minnesota, and daughter in law, Kathy Quistad of Escondido, California. She is also survived by grandchildren Tyler and Cody Quistad, James and Forrest (wife KeeLee) Bridges, and Morgan and Connor Quistad. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Legacy Oaks Assisted Living and Elara hospice.
