Maxine Monk, age 89

Ms. Monk passed away Wednesday evening at Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie.
Maxine was born in Waxahachie to Moda and Odessa (Ledwell) Monk. She graduated from Waxahachie High School and attended Trinity University. Maxine was employed as an accountant for over 35 years with Meadows Oil Company of Dallas. Maxine was a member of the Dallas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a longtime member of the Waxahachie Garden Club where she served as Reporter, Auditor and Registrar; She was also chosen Outstanding Club Woman. Maxine was also a member of : Waxahachie Cemetery Board, Baylor Medical Center Women's Council, Waxahachie Symphony Association, City Federation of Women's Clubs, and she volunteered at the Waxahachie Museum as well as many other organizations in the city.
Maxine was an elder of the Presbyterian, USA, serving on numerous committees at the Central Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Hand Bell Choir. She served on the Session of the church.
Maxine is survived by one brother Earl M Monk and his wife Maryella of Dallas, two sisters: Margaret M Ballard of Houston and Mary E Leathem of Dallas. She is also survived by numerous neices and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the Waxahachie City Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Forschner officiating. A Memorial Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM at the Central Presbyterian Church.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jubilate Ringers.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
