Maxine Griggs Brown, 83, of Red Oak, died Monday, November 20, 2006 at Specialty Select Hospital in Dallas, following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 29, 1923 in Howard, Texas, the daughter of Alma and Jeffrey Griggs, and was a member of the Ovilla Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her late husband William Harris Brown; her parents, Alma and Jeffrey Griggs; and two brothers, Coil and Grover Griggs. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Batson and husband Buddy of Red Oak; son, Harry Brown of Irving; and sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Gene Terry of Waxahachie; six grandchildren, Brett Brown, Kelly Golden, Devin Bentley, Shannon Dodd, Pam Savage, and Stacy Griffith; ten great grandchildren, Adam and Abby Smith, Amanda and Lyndsey Griffith, Molly and Chad Golden, Melodie and Madison, Annie and Grace Dodd.

Visitation will be at the Red Oak Funeral Home Chapel 6-8 PM Tuesday, November 21, 2006. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 2 PM at the Red Oak Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend James Schoenrock of Mesquite and Reverend Don Ricks of Midlothian. Interment will be at the Red Oak Cemetery.
