Maudie Stanton, age 100

Maudie Stanton passed away late Friday evening at the Medical Center at Lancaster. She was born Maudie Mae Stewart in Hill county to Wylie Houston and Mary (Crystal) Stewart. Growing up in Ellis County, she attended school in Forreston and went on to the Stamps School of Music. Her career as a licensed practical nurse found her in many private homes as well as the WC Tennery Hospital. For Several years she was a member of the South Prong Baptist Church.
She married Simpson (Doc) Stanton on March 7, 1922. Four children were born into this union: Vernon E. Stanton, Mitti Stanton Bowren, Orville E. Stanton, and Ruby Stanton Camp. She was the oldest member of the First Assembly of God Church in Waxahachie being a member for the past 50 years. She loved sunflowers and redbirds.
Surviving her are three children: Mitti Stanton Bowren, Orville Stanton both of Waxahachie, Ruby Stanton Camp of Lancaster, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Simpson, her son Vernon, two brothers, and two sisters.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 17, 2005 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Burial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
