Mattie Mcelroy

Mattie Lou McElroy, 91, passed away on March 13, 2017 in Waxahachie. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home located at 1826 W. Highway 287 Business in Waxahachie. Reverend Heath Sims will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2 PM on Tuesday. Interment will directly follow at Hillcrest Burial Park in Waxahachie. Pallbearers will be Rob Beason, Carl Smith, J.B. Sims, Ken Box, Holton Hester and Noah Smith. Honorary Pallbearers include Joe and Jan Jenkins.

Mattie Lou was born on May 30, 1925 to H.N "Preach" and Vera Curry. She was born in Boz, Texas and attended and graduated from Forreston High School. She married James Smith on June 17, 1944 and they lived in Maypearl until his death in 1979. She then married Pat McElroy on August 19, 1995 and they lived on Bird Lane in Waxahachie until his death in 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Oscar Curry and James Curry; and nephew, Craig Curry.

Mattie Lou is survived by her niece, Valera Lou Abright and her husband, David; great nieces, Ginger Smith, GayLynn Beason, Kimberly Owens, Kindra Baize, Denise Wilson and Cynthia VanDer Leden; and several great great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Meals on Wheels in Waxahachie at www.mowjec.org.
