Mattie "Pat" Brumbalow, 89, passed away on December 22nd, 2013. She was born in Cumming, Georgia on April 21st, 1924 to Charles and Clura Bruce. She entered the wartime workforce at 18 in a shoe factory that supplied boots for the troops. Mattie later worked as a secretary in Atlanta. She did not marry until age 27 when she met the "perfect" man, Harold Brumbalow who had just returned from the Pacific. Harold was a student at Georgia Tech in Atlanta where they met. Shortly after the birth of their first child Bruce, they were transferred to Syracuse, New York. Pat then had two more children, Carol and Sheila. After a number of years of being a stay at home mother, Pat went back to work. She was employed at a tax office and then worked for the Onendaga Water Authority. After her retirement she began working at WMHR, a Christian radio station. Pat had a great love for the Jewish people and made several trips to Israel. She was a student of the scriptures and began taking Hebrew lessons at age 80. She loved God and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with many friends and acquaintances. Following her husband's death in 2010, she moved to Waxahachie, Texas. She made new special friends and met great neighbors in Texas. She enjoyed being near to her Texas grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her much joy. Mattie Brumbalow is survived by her son Bruce Brumbalow and wife Beth of Bedford, Texas, daughter Dr. Carol Andersen and her husband Ed of West Chester Pennsylvania, and daughter Sheila Zimmerman and husband Bruce of Waxahachie, Texas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, David Brumbalow, Lisa Carson and husband Nolan, William Zimmerman and wife Marcy, Robert, Andrew and James Zimmerman, Evelyn and Leif Andersen. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Keira and Julia Carson. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at the Wayne Boze funeral home in Waxahachie on Friday, December 27th at 10 a.m. Family will welcome guests following the morning service. Internment will take place in Talmo, Georgia next to her beloved husband under the direction of the Bernstein funeral home of Athens, Ga. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Waxahachie Bible Church Missions Trip Fund, P. O. Box 826, Waxahachie, Texas 75168.
