Matthew Law

August 26, 1985 — November 28, 2020

Midlothian, Texas

Matthew Lloyd Law was born in Dallas TX. Matthew was a devoted Christian, husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

Matthew grew up in and around Ellis County. He graduated from Ovilla Christian School in 2004 where he excelled in track and cross country. Matthew’s love of music also started at an early age. With a natural grace and rhythm, Matthew quickly became an accomplished drummer. Matthew continued drumming for the rest of his life and would volunteer his talents to his worship team at church. Before graduating, Matthew attended U.S. Army basic training between his junior and senior year of high school. Upon graduation, Matthew served his country all over the world, from Hawaii to Iraq and all points in between. After the Army, Matthew and his family moved back home where Matthew was employed using the skills he learned as a mechanic in the Army.

The one constant in Matthew’s life, from the beginning of his teenage years, was his wife, Jennifer. High school sweethearts, they were married in 2008 and almost immediately began a family. Matthew and Jennifer had five children and they considered it their crowning achievement. Matthew loved children, both his own, and those of friends and family. Matthew was a loyal friend and was always willing to lend a hand. He would help you move, fix your car, just listen, or if needed, provide the biggest, warmest, bear hug! Matthew was quick to forgive, had an openness that made everyone feel welcome, and a sense of enjoying every moment. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Matthew was preceded in death by his sister, Annie; grandfather, Clark Hoolihan, grandmother, Joyce Malenfant, and his aunt, Colleen Smith. Matthew is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and children, Hayden, Parker, Hudson, Preston, and Penelope; parents Michael and Kellie Law; brother, Jesse Law, and wife, Madison; sister, Rebecca Prohaska, and husband, Luke; brother, Samuel Law, and wife, Nikki, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
