Mrs. Mathis, lifelong resident of Waxahachie, passed away Friday at her residence. She was born in Forreston, TX. To James Walker and Pearl (Hill) Lott. Mrs. Mathis was a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge. Earnestine served in many of the chairs, which included Vice Grand, Noble Grand and Past Noble Grand. She also served as the Lodge Deputy as well as supporter to other chairs in the lodge. When called upon you could always know that you could depend on her. She was there to fix a dish to carry to someone who had passed away or to gather groceries to carry to a needy family. Whatever the occasion we could depend on Earnestine. She had a sweet smile and a willing heart. Earnestine received the Decoration of Chivalry, which is the highest honor a lodge can bestow upon a member. We will miss her smiling face and know that she is at rest and not in the pain of which she has suffered. We of the Waxahachie Rebekah Lodge extend to her family our sympathy and thank you for sharing her and her Christian life with us. We will miss her. She worked for Opal's at Bethany's Western Wear and was a Librarian's assistant at the Waxahachie Junior High School. She was a charter member of the Ferris Heights United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Mathis is survived by: one son, Larry Mathis of Waxahachie; three daughters, Serena Choate, Sharon Lynch and Pearl Choate all of Waxahachie and a twin sister, Christine Bishop of Lancaster. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Cindy and Dennis Quisenberry of Sherman, Randy Choate, Kelly and Andy Aguilar and Shara Bryson all of Waxahachie. Mrs. Mathis also leaves 11 great-grandchildren: Aaron and Brandie Choate, Nicole Choate, Matt Choate, Sara Choate, Jacob Aguilar, Chris Aguilar, Ciarra Bryson, Dylan Bryson, Paige Hughes all of Waxahachie, Randy Lynch and Braxton Lynch of Waco. Also surviving are 2 great great grandchildren: Destiny Choate and Samantha Choate of Waxahachie. Her husband, Ebin, in 1988 and 3 brothers and 2 sisters, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday June 15 from 6 to 8 pm at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be Monday June 16 at 2PM in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend John Shipman officiating. Pallbearers will be Charlie Bailey, Eddie Jennings, Craig Jennings, Edwin Lott, Chad Spence and Jimmy Bishop. Interment will follow in Forreston Cemetery
