Marydee Miller Long February 23, 1918 January 6, 2011 Marydee Long, 92, of Waxahachie, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011, in Waxahachie. She was born to the late William Newton Miller and Nina Morris Miller on February 23, 1918, in Leonard, Texas Marydee lived in Greenville, Texas, and graduated from Greenville High School and Texas State College for Women (now TWU) and married Oscar Syms Long, Jr., of Greenville the following month. After World War II, they settled in Grand Prairie, Texas, where relatives resided. There they raised their family and lived until 1971 when they moved to Waxahachie. Marydee volunteered at Baylor Waxahachie Hospital as a pink lady in the gift shop and Sims Library for years. Marydee and Oscar were very active members of The First United Methodist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School class. She is survived by her daughter Anne Tuley and her husband Robert of Waxahachie, her son Michael Long and his wife Cheri of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and a daughter Susan Cantu and her husband John of Midlothian; six grandchildren, Tiffany Grassmuck and her husband Greg of San Antonio, Rebecca Oberlander and her husband Brian of Nashville, Tennessee, Allison Long of Pflugerville, Texas, Ben Long and his wife Amy of Austin, Anthony Cantu and his wife Rebecca of Irving, Texas, and Claudia Francis and her husband John of Heath, Texas. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Raleigh and Grace Luxon; Arden, Matthew, and Nicholas Oberlander; Ethan Aguilera Long; and Michela and Isabella Francis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Oscar Long in 1999, and by her brothers Donald, Robert, and Joe, and her sister Willnina. Graveside services will be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011, under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie.
