Mary Wright

November 1, 1940 — March 4, 2021

Mesquite

Mary “Sue” Kelso Wright passed away peacefully on March 4, 2021 at her home in Mesquite, Texas with her son and caregiver Randy by her side after a long battle with cancer.  She was born on November 1, 1940 in Palmer, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her father, Albert Kelso and mother, Willie B. Brown Kelso, her brother Albert Kelso, Jr., sisters Joy Kelso Butler and Joanne Kelso Robinson, and niece Judy Cooper.

Sue worshiped the Lord.  She was a member of Freedom Place Church in Rowlett, Texas and loved her church and church family.  Sue graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1958 and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a customer service representative for 40 years.

She is survived by her son Randy and his wife Lisa, who she lived with for over 30 years, grandson Kevin and his wife Emily, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of long-term friends.

Sue had a passion for shopping and fashion.  You would never see her leaving the house without her makeup on and a nice outfit, including lots of jewelry and rings on almost every finger.  If she wasn’t spoiling her son Randy, grandson Kevin, or daughter-in-law Lisa, she would be helping friends in need.

After retirement, Sue loved spending weeks at a time with her childhood best friend Barbara Huddle, her husband Truett, and their entire family.  They will always be considered her 2nd family.  Sue also enjoyed spending plenty of time with her sister-in-law Janet Wright, nieces Denise and Judy, and nephew Dennis, Jr..  She looked forward to weekly lunches, movies, and shopping trips with her long-term friend and co-worker Rosanne Dayman.

The services will be held at Wayne Boze Funeral Home at 1826 US-287 BUS, Waxahachie, TX 75165 at 2pm on March 9, 2021.
