Mary Sue Vandyke was born in Waxahachie to parents William S. and Goldie Meharg Brickell. She married Delta C. Vandyke, a Waxahachie native. They resided briefly in Waco, Texas and Oakland, California during World War ll. Sue attended Barnes Business School and worked for a while, before becoming a mother & homemaker. She enjoyed the outdoors having been raised on the Brickell family farm during the depression. As an adult Sue loved gardening, landscaping and occasionally fishing. She was a lifelong member of the Central Presbyterian Church. In 1983 Sue moved to Boulder, Colorado to be near her son. Although she never quite adapted to the winters, she grew to love the deep blue Colorado sky and to travel around the state. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delta C. Vandyke; her parents Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Brickell; four sisters; Frances Howard, Helen Taylor, Dorthy Eastman and Wilda Moir. She is survived by her son, Todd Vandyke and wife Susannah of Louisville, Colorado. Also several nieces and nephews; Patsy Howard Worley of Melissa, Texas, Richard Moir of Waxahachie, Martha Eastman Hays of Sardis, Lynda Moir Graves of Waxahachie, Mark Taylor of Valley Glen, California and Betty Eastman of Las Colinas. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 18 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Bro. James Southard officiating.
