Mary Trevino, our loving mom and grandma, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Mary was born to Patricio and Cleotilde Moya in Cleburg, TX, on June 11, 1936. She married her one and only love, Antonio Trevino, in 1953. Over the next several years, they built a beautiful family of nine children. Their early (and some of her favorite) years as a family were spent traveling the country in their station wagon, doing various jobs and seeing all of the sights. They eventually settled in Red Oak, TX, in 1977, where she proudly called home until her last days. She is preceded in death by her parents, Patricio and Cleotilde Moya; sons Antonio Trevino Jr., Guadalupe Trevino, and Fernando Trevino; granddaughter Haley Trevino; and her husband, Antonio Trevino.
Mary devoted her life to her home and family. She proudly wore the title of homemaker, spending her years raising her children and keeping up with her home. Later in life, Mary babysat several neighborhood children. She left such an impact on every child she cared for that many kept in contact all the way into their adult years, eventually bringing their own children to meet the woman who once cared for them. After her days of raising children were over, Mary still kept busy by doing small jobs such as sewing, ironing, and cooking for longtime friends and family. Of all her life’s accomplishments, her proudest was the care and devotion she gave to her daughter Connie.
Mary was an active member of the Waxahachie Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Her church was her home away from home, where she sat in the same pew every Tuesday and Saturday for over 25 years. Mary took advantage of every opportunity to serve her church. She served as a deaconess, provided her famous rice and beans for the weekly potluck, and participated on various committees within the church.
Mary was known for her amazing cooking. She made dozens of tamales every holiday season for others to enjoy and religiously provided a tamale dinner for her beloved family every Christmas Eve. Neighbors and her family will always remember her homemade tortillas, rice, beans, and tamales.
She is survived by her son Armando Trevino and wife Olga of Keene, TX; son Bobby Trevino; son Ronnie Trevino and wife Donna; daughter Esther Lawson; daughter Connie Trevino, all of Red Oak, TX; daughter-in-law Roselinda Trevino; and son Abel Trevino and wife Misty of Italy, TX.
