Mary Price

Mary Esta Price, 91 of Waxahachie, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Baylor Medical Center of Waxahachie. She was born to the late Clyde Roland Price and Eugenia Smith Price on March 7, 1921 in Ellis County. Mary grew up in Ellis County and graduated from Waxahachie High School. She received her BA in 1957 from Howard Payne University and in 1960 received her Masters of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She was Who's Who among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Mary retired after 40 years as a secretary and was employed for 22 years at the Baptist General Convention of Texas in Dallas. Mary served our country and was a Corporal in the Women's Army Corps, serving as an assistant to Protestant Chaplains. She was a charter member of Women in Military Service of America Memorial Foundation; life time member of the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie where she was a choir member for over 40 years and a Sunday School teacher for over 45 years. In 2003, Mary married Maxwell Cates of Arlington. She is survived by her cousins William, John, and David Price, and her step-sons, Ron and R. Max Cates. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Geneva Price Carpenter, and her husband.Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Williamson and Dr. Jerry Lemon. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
