Mary Meeks

Mary Ellen Burton Meeks of Waxahachie, passed away, Friday, March 21, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Frank and Charlotte Burton on August 28, 1936 in Sugar Grove Ark. Mary was a woman who loved God, family, her Country and music. She always remembered her country roots in her daily life. Mary enjoyed Country and Western, Bluegrass and Gospel music. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge #381 and the Eastern Star Lodge. Mary will be missed by so many who dearly loved her, especially her beautiful spirit and kind smile. She is survived by her partner and companion, Dave Eder; her children, Gary Lynn Meeks and his wife, Kelly, Richard Lynn Meeks, Monica Eder Slade and her husband, Joey; her grandchildren, Krystal Meeks-Hinkley and her husband, Scotty, Mariah Slade, Emery Slade and Joey Slade, Jr.; she was also survived by her siblings, Vaneeta Burton Brannam, Dorothy A. Burton, John F. Burton and Jesse F. Burton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Guion Meeks; her sons, Jimmy Guion Meeks, Jr., and Ronald Gene Meeks; by her parents, Jesse Frank and Charlotte R. Brady Burton; also by her siblings, Kathleen Scott, Joe Burton, Mac Bernard Burton, Joyce Burton Kelley, Jame B. Burton, Charles C. Burton and William E. Burton. Services to celebrate Mary's life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Dr. Leroy Fenton officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
