Mary Helen Hamlin, a lifelong resident of Forreston, passed away at Pleasant Manor Living Center on February 21, 2004 at the age of 90. She was born March 21, 1913 to parents Henry L. (Jake) and Katie Bullen Lanier. She was the Valedictorian of Forreston High School in 1931 and later married James Robert Hamlin in 1936.
Mary Helen was a lifelong member of the Forreston Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder. She was a past trustee of the Forreston Independent School District and former employee of the Ennis Independent School District. She was an active member of the Forreston Friendship Club and Forreston Cemetery Association.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Billy Price of Forreston; grandson, Mark and wife Emily Price, and granddaughter, Melanie and husband Jeff Reed all of Waxahachie, great-grandchildren Stefani and Morgan Reed, and Marisa Price, all of Waxahachie, sister, Dorothy Krouse of Gun Barrel City and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and two brothers, H.L. (Buddy) Lanier and Richard Lanier.
Visitation will be Monday night from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday, February 24th at 2:00 p.m. at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vic Dindot and Dr. Richard Reed officiating. Internment will be at the Forreston Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Carl Ballard, Jimmy Charles Bynum, Leland Calvert, Randy Covan, Norman Eggleston and Jim Tom Johnston. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Forreston Friendship Club.
