Mary Dee Reynolds Carter, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, Feb. 3, 2016 at Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas, Texas.
Born April 5, 1929 to Raymond and Jewel Blankenship Reynolds in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She graduated from Warren County High School in Bowling Green. She married Lewis N. Carter on March 4, 1947 and was married for 56 years.
She was employed by Sears for many years before retiring. She had lived in Fort Worth most of her life before moving to Lake Palestine in Chandler, TX to begin retirement with her husband. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking. She was a gracious hostess to many family and friends as they visited in their home on the lake. She was a member of Westlake Baptist Church, Chandler, where she lead and/or taught many classes for children and the ladies including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Womens Missionary Union and served on numerous committees.
She is survived by two sons Chaplain Jerry Carter and wife Cynthia of Waxahachie; Jack Carter and wife Theresa of Chandler. Grandchildren are Chris Carter and wife Carrie of Waxahachie, Laura Carter Barnard and husband Erik of Waxahachie; Nikki Carter, Meagan Carter Spradlin and husband Mitchell and Cody Carter all of Chandler; and 10 great grandchildren. One brother Joe Reynolds and wife Mary Jo of Hendersonville, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother.
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Feb 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Pat Boze Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 US-287 Business, Waxahachie, TX 75165. Family will gather at the home of Chaplain Jerry Carter in Waxahachie. In keeping with her life of service she chose to donate her body to medical science and research. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Plano Cemetery in Bowling Green, KY.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 315 N. Rogers, Waxahachie, TX 75165 or Baylor Scott White Medical Center Waxahachie Pastoral Care Education, 2400 North I-35E, Waxahachie, TX 75165 in memory of Mary Dee Carter.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Grace Presbyterian Village for their exemplary care of our mother for the past 7 years.
