Marvin Wayne Price Sr.

September 20, 1933 — August 6, 2024

Waxahachie

Marvin Wayne Price Sr. age 90 of Waxahachie went to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 6th, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 20th, 1933, in Sayre, Oklahoma to Clara Powell and Lonzo Price. He married Iva Mae Moore on January 31, 1953 in Corsicana, Texas. They were long time members of Brown Street Church of Christ formerly College Street. Iva passed away October 16th, 2006, after 53 years of marriage. Marvin met Betty Burrow at church, and they became fast friends. They married November 1, 2007, and he lived the remainder of his years happily married to her.

In his late teens he went to work for his uncle Frank Powell delivering Coca-Cola. Marvin later worked at Groom Brothers Hardware Store in Pleasant Grove. He started repairing small appliances and lawn mowers which sparked his interest in repair work. Marvin and Iva married shortly after that and purchased a home in Pleasant Grove where he started his own repair business, Southeast Service Company. Groom Brothers Hardware store would still send him business repairing lawn mowers, water cooler fans, washers, dryers & air conditioning window units. He would also prepare appliances to be shipped for 3 major moving companies. In 1972, after many years of self-employment, Marvin moved his family to Waxahachie and closed Southeast Service Company. He then went to work for C & D Refrigeration. He worked for them for approximately 12 years before returning to self-employment reopening Southeast Service Company repairing and installing central heating and air conditioning units. He retired from Southeast Service Company in 1992 and went to work part-time for C.A. Wilson for a few years working in the shop and picking up parts.

Marvin was one of the hardest working men we knew. He had a passion for woodworking and spent a lot of hours in his shop at home building and working on projects for his family and friends.

If you knew Marvin, you knew of his unwavering love and faith in the Lord. He was a man of honor and integrity. He loved his family tremendously as they were one of his greatest joys. He would spend hours playing with his grandkids hauling them in the bucket of his tractor and laying on the living room floor letting them brush his hair, drawing and putting stickers all over him.

In earlier years when his health permitted, he enjoyed fishing and spent much of his free time in his boat on a lake or sitting at one of his ponds holding a rod & reel, usually with one or more of his grandchildren. He also loved being outside tending to his cattle and working around his property.

He is survived by his wife Betty, Son Wayne Price & wife Tammy of Hubbard, Texas, Daughter Donna Cooke and husband Larry of Waxahachie, Texas, Stepson Randy Burrow and wife Eva of Red Oak, Texas, 7 grandchildren- Lisa Price, Leslie Jennings (Wes) Josh Whitten (Sarah) Candice Shinpaugh (David) Jeffrey Cooke (Linda) Casey Cooke (Rachel) Chelsea Cooney (Chad).19 great grandchildren, 4 great- great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Iva Price; his parents; 2 sisters; 1 grandchild; 1 great grandchild.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the Brown Street Church of Christ family for all their prayers, love and support to our family, Marvin and Betty during his time of need.
