Marti J. Vantreese Wilson, age 68

Marti J. Vantreese Wilson passed away Saturday, April 22, 2006 after a long illness. Marti was born Martha Jean Dawson in Waxahachie on December 13, 1937 to James Andrew and Ima Lee Dawson. Her career included working at the Waxahachie Daily Light, Ellis County District Clerks office and as a self-employed Emu Rancher. Marti loved working in her flowerbeds and spending time with her family. Marti had a huge heart. She set an example with her capacity to love whether you were related by blood or marriage; there was no difference to her. She was a member of Ferris Avenue Baptist Church.

She is survived by husband Glenn Wilson, her children and their spouses, Joe and Judy Smithwick, Jeanie and Alan Shivers, John and Kim Smithwick, Dixie and Larry Burks, and Ren Tammy Vantreese, two sisters and their spouses, Marion and Gene Roberson and Faye and Alex Flores. Grandchildren include Joel Bryant, Libby Malkuch, Angie Martin, Ami Horner, Joe Smithwick Jr., Morgan Smithwick, Amanda and Abbyn Smithwick, Katy Burks, Ami and Ray Vantreese, Randy Murr, Charly Welch, Trace Medlock, Cory Sanchez and Cody Sanchez. Nieces and nephews are Cindy and Randy Rejuna, Alan and Lillian Wilson, Glynda and Don Atwell, Berny Wilson, Coleman and Ivy Jaynes, Phillip and Anne Jaynes, Carl and Diane Jaynes. She has eighteen great-grandchildren and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, one daughter, Jeri Gail Smithwick, one grandson, John Wayne Smithwick, husbands Joe Smithwick and Jack Vantreese, and daughter-in-law Donna Vantreese.

Visitation will be at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel in Waxahachie with Pastor David Brown officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park in Waxahachie.
