Martha Moore Wedel, age 89

Mrs. Wedel passed away late Sunday evening at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie. She was born in Waxahachie to Jack and Florence (Quitt) Moore. She married W. L. Wedel on March 12, 1943 in Waxahachie. Mrs. Wedel worked for the state and federal governments for many years and was secretary of the First Baptist Church in Waxahachie until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and Training Union leader in the Elementary Department.

Mrs. Wedel is survived by one son, John A Wedel and his wife Mary of Plano; two grandchildren, Michael Wedel of Austin and Rebecca Diane Wedel of Plano; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W. L. Wedel; two brothers, Willie John and Jack Moore; five sisters, Juanita Beezley, ,Mable
Gurley, Mary Margaret Watson, Daisy Ruth Moore, and Bernice Moore Sowers.

The family will receive friends and relatives 5-7 PM Wednesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Thursday, May 15, 2003 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Samuel Tullock officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Wedel, Rebecca Diane Wedel, T. D. Matthews, Charles Forbes, Ed Burleson, Jr., and Lyle Hunt. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the First Baptist Adult 8 coed class. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park.
