Martha passed away after being involved in an accident. She was born Jan 5. 1925 in Athens, Tx to the late Belle and Henry Thrasher. She was preceded by Grandson Aaron McCarver.
It was an old wagon pulled by 2 gray mules that carried her to the orphanage. She was 4 years old and she wore every piece of clothing she had. After that, she spent 14 years surviving, making friends, brothers and sisters. She became a person to be admired and she never forgot those years. Verna Mae Thomas was the person she adopted as her little sister. She graduated from the Corsicana State Orphanage at the age of 18, in 1943, and moved to Dallas where she found employment as a secretary. In 1947, she married James Elvin Sonnier and started her family. Her children were Claudia, Ronnie and David. She had 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 step-great grandchildren. Her love for children will never die.

Visitation with the family has been set for Friday 6-8 PM with services 10 AM Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Red Oak Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Red Oak Funeral Home.
