Marie Shelton

Marie Shelton, 94, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2025.

Marie married the love of her life, Ardie Shelton, on June 4, 1948. Together, they built a beautiful life in Sardis, Texas, where they raised two daughters. She retired from Employers Insurance after 32 years of dedicated service. Marie loved spending time in her garden, traveling, and crocheting, she made sure every baby in the family had a handmade blanket. Her peanut brittle and salsa were legendary treats, cherished by all who knew her.
A devoted member of Sardis Baptist Church, Marie’s strong Christian roots and love for God served as a foundation on which many would build their faith upon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardie Shelton; her parents, Harris and Maggie Morris; her brothers, D.C., Doy, and Robert Morris; her sister, Mary Lou Morris; and her great-great-grandson, Sawyer Vickery.
She is survived by her daughters, Belinda Phillips and husband Lesly of Sardis, and Donna Kuykendall of Melissa. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Tammy Ramsey and husband Keith of Waxahachie; Dwayne Phillips and wife Beatrice of Hubbard; April Biddle and husband Brad of Tennessee; Jamie Glen and husband Jerry of Avalon; and Brandi Kuykendall of Melissa.
She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Courtney Padgett, Corey Padgett, Cody Ramsey and wife Karlee, Tate Phillips, Shea Dally and husband Richard, Angela Vickery, Amber Vickery, John Vickery Jr. and wife Courtney, Kayleigh Phillips, Logan Jones, Torrin Brown, Liliana Burks, and Matt Epps.
Marie’s love lives on through her 15 great-great-grandchildren and the many lives she touched throughout her 94 wonderful years.
