Margie Ruth McCoy, age 80, died of Alzheimer's disease on Tuesday, February 12th at home with her family. Margie was born on August 21st, 1927 to Henry Colley and Jessie Rama (Wilsford) Keenom at their home between Howard and Waxahachie. Margie went to school at South Prong and graduated from Waxahachie High School. She then attended Hill Jr. College in Hillsboro where she met her husband to be, Frank McCoy. They were married on August 2nd, 1947 in Waxahachie. From that reunion came: James Franklin, Kathi Marie, and Conni Sue. Margie served as secretary to Lynn Griffith when he was running for state legislator, worked for the Ellis County Extension Agent to teach the disadvantaged to use commodities. Later, she worked at the Opportunity Workshop where she helped train mentally challenged adults to be productive individuals. She then went on to work for the Mexia State School where she was program director at the Sterrett Centex Center Workshop for 15 years. Margie was dearly loved by her clients, their parents and staff. Most of all, Margie was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie; was a member of the Wesley Sunday school class; served on the building committee; was a member of UMW group; and member of the Mother's Club. She was a member of the Junior Service League. Margie loved to garden, needlepoint, loved her birds in her yard and was an exceptional seamstress. She participated in a research study for Alzheimer's disease for 10 years with UT Southwestern in Dallas. Margie will be sorely missed by her immediate and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Doris Haggerty, Anna Beth Walker, Jim Keenom, and Gladys Keenom; a son, Jim Frank McCoy and wife Rebecca Boswell McCoy.
