Margaret LaFaye Slay, age 76

Mrs. LaFaye Slay, lifetime Waxahachie resident, passed away Wednesday night at the Medical Center of Arlington. She was born in Bardwell, TX. to Oliver and Faye (Evans) Holland. She attended Waxahachie Schools and married James Slay September 25, 1949 in Waxahachie. Mrs. Slay was a seamstress for Haggar Slacks and later Bandman's, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the College Street Church of Christ and a past member of College Street Chorus. Mrs. Slay was a homemaker who loved cooking and sewing.
Her survivors include: her husband, James F. Slay of Waxahachie; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Denise Slay of Arlington; sisters, Carolyn and Paul Montandon, and Janice Hardaway all of Tyler; grandchildren, Connie Slay, Chris Slay and Emily Slay; great grandchildren, Michelle and Shane; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marva Jean Hardaway.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Saturday, August 5, 2006 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Walter Buchanan and Owen Cosgrove officiating. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Slay's nephews: Toni Grigsby, Joe Hardaway, Richie Hardaway, Daryle Hardaway, David Hardaway and Bobby Slay. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Park.
