Margaret Oliphant

Margaret Julia Oliphant 96 of Waxahachie, Texas passed away Sunday April 16, 2017 at Renfro Care Center in Waxahachie. Margaret was born on September 17, 1920 in Waterford, Mississippi to the late Richard Arthur Gilmer and Beulah Grace Campbell Gilmer. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her and loved her.

Margaret was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in the UMW Society of her church. She was active in various other societies as well. Margaret was a retired school teacher with the Italy ISD.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Max Oliphant, her son Richard Scott Thompson.

Margaret Julia Oliphant is survived by her daughter Valinda Scruggs and her husband George of Waxahachie. Seven grandchildren; Sherry Smith and her husband Scott, Jennifer Droll and her husband Jordon, Karel King and her husband Skyler, Preston Scruggs, Jim Oliphant and wife Karen, John Oliphant and wife Karen, and Candi Sailors. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 6-8 pm at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home located 1826 W. Hwy 287 Business in Waxahachie. Interment will follow in Elm Branch Cemetery in Bardwell, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family will be pleased to have donations made to the First United Methodist Church of Italy.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
