Margaret was born in Ennis, Texas on January 31, 1928, to Gordon and Audna Harkins. She graduated from Ennis High School where she was the band sweetheart and beauty queen. Margaret attended TCU and, while working at the Ellis County Courthouse in Waxahachie, met Stuart Lumpkins, the Ellis County Attorney and decorated WWII fighter pilot. They were married in 1948. While rearing four children, Margaret served as a leader in Mothers' Club and Waxahachie Junior Service League, and as a Sunday school teacher and Women's Circle volunteer at the Central Presbyterian Church. At age 43, Margaret became a widow after Stuart lost his battle with cancer in 1972. In 1973, the Waxahachie High School football stadium was named in Stuart's honor for his service to the community which was only possible with Margaret's faithful support. After Stuart's death, Margaret courageously reared her family alone always exhibiting an amazing inner strength. She moved to Fort Worth in 1979. Margaret was a member of McKinney Church and was active in TCU Exes and the Rejebian Book Club. Margaret never met a stranger, was quick to encourage others and loved to dance. Her greatest love on this earth was always her family. Margaret was predeceased in death by her husband, Stuart, and her grandson, Timothy Stuart Watson (Carole's son).
