Margaret June Lindley August 18, 1935 – February 4, 2025
Margaret June Lindley, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Ovilla, Texas, on February 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with multiple illnesses. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on August 18, 1935, to Gordin and Minna Hill.
Margaret spent most of her childhood in the Valley with her siblings, Myrna Taylor and Gene Hill. In May of 1957, she married the love of her life, Donald Lindley, and together they raised three children: Renee Starkey, Mike Lindley, and David Lindley. As a mother, Margaret was deeply devoted to her family, often road-tripping to FFA shows and never missing any of her children’s activities. She was an FFA mom to all the kids, not just her own, always offering love and support to those around her.
Margaret dedicated 30 years of her life to Southwestern Bell, starting as a switchboard operator and eventually rising to a managerial position. After retiring, she cherished spending time with her growing family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Mammaw." Even those not related by blood lovingly referred to her by that name.
Margaret was known for her feisty personality, and, above all, her incredibly loving and generous heart. She had a passion for life, enjoyed playing card games and dominoes with her loved ones, and had a special fondness for slot machines—especially the Elvis-themed ones. Her southern cooking was second to none, and her home was always open to family and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her sons, Mike and David Lindley; her sister, Myrna Taylor; and her brother, Gene Hill. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Donald Lindley; her daughter, Renee Starkey; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward with love and fondness.
Margaret’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
She was an active member of the Church of Christ and will have Michael Elrod officiating her Celebration of Life on Monday at 12 PM at Wayne Boze Funeral Home Chapel, 1826 W Hwy 287 Business, Waxahachie, TX 75165. Visitation with the family will begin at 11 AM, one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery.
