Mamie Jo McCary, 78, a resident of Red Oak and former longtime resident of Lancaster went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 19, 2008. Mamie was born in Snow, OK to Oliver and Callie Edwards on December 26, 1929. Mamie was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Fred McCary on September 4, 1979, a brother, Richard Penny and a sister, Norma Jean Hatter.

Mamie was strong willed and independent and she was loved by many. She is survived by her children, Diane & Charles Walton of Rowlett, Freddie & Debbie McCary of Waxahachie, Betty Lujan of Red Oak, Sue & Angel Gonzales of Red Oak, Jerry & Carol McCary of Waxahachie and Terry & Cathy McCary of Dallas; a sister, May Britton of Lancaster; 16 Grandchildren; 33 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Red Oak Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 7 to 9 PM.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Concorde Cemetery in Mineola, Texas at 1 PM.
