Mae Nell Burdett, age 88
April 16, 1918
February 4, 2007

Mrs. Burdett passed away early Sunday morning at Renfro Health Center. She was born in Grand Saline to S. B. and Grace Deuron (Flowers) Kirby. After graduating from Grand Saline High School, she married James Becton Burdett, Jr. January 27, 1940 in Rockwall, Texas. Mrs. Burdett was a member of the Eastern Star of Oak Cliff, Ladies Auxiliary UTU, a member and board member of the Dallas Democratic Women's Club, and a longtime member of the West Illinois Church of Christ in Oak Cliff.

Her survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Bill Burdett and Janis of Midlothian; daughters and sons-in-law, Jimmie and John Shepperd of DeSoto, Vickki and Johnny Gerner of Ennis; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Mrs. Burdett is also survived by the Staffs of Lighted Pathways Hospice and Renfro Nursing Home, who loved and cared for her in the latter days of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Becton Burdett, Jr. in 1996; three brothers; and one sister.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 10 AM Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Bill Eubanks officiating and Chaplain Jerry Bloomfield to assist. Pallbearers will be Scot Shepperd, Devin Penny, Chase Penny, Chris Burdett, Nick Gerner and Ty Gerner. Private interment will follow in the Woodside Cemetery, Grand Saline, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Cliff Churches for Emergency Aid, P. O. Box 3923, Dallas, Texas 75208.
