Luther Davis, Jr.

Luther Dee Davis, Jr., 74 of Waxahachie passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Waxahachie. He was born on May 26, 1937 in Wilmer, Texas to Luther Dee and Loyce Wooley Davis. He was a graduate of Wilmer-Hutchins high School. He married Frieda Gordon on November 30, 1957. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years along with his six children; Cathy Lindsey and her husband, Bobby, Debra Williams and her husband, Rick, Luther Davis, III and his wife, Dena, Kim Dykes and her husband, Jeff, Sheila Wright and her husband, Steve, Scott Davis and his wife, Julie; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Dee and Loyce Davis; and also by his sister, Sue Lord. Luther was a loving husband, wonderful family man and friend to many. He was passionate about the livestock business, which he learned from his father. He was a cattle buyer for over 50 years, he worked for Neuhoff and Supreme Beef. Those serving as pallbearers include, Brad Lindsey, Brandon Lindsey, JD Davis, Caleb Davis, Jeffery Dykes, Andy Dykes, Justin Wright, and Shane Wright. Those serving as honorary pallbearers include, Weston Davis, Pat Hannah, Gene Fuller, John Morris and the late Rudy Schenkel. Services celebrating his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Gibson. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75231; to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org; or to the Heritage Baptist Church Building Fund, 1000 Butcher Road, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
