Red Oak

Lucinda “Cindy” Black Thompson (75) of Port Orchard, Washington passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 in Red Oak, Texas. Cindy was born on November 25, 1945 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to parents Joe and Adele Black. Cindy has four siblings, Robert Black of Oakland, CA, Joe Black of DeSoto, TX, Mike Black of San Francisco, CA, and Carole Summers of San Francisco, CA.

Cindy is survived by her three children Lucinda Cunningham (and husband Robert) of Stigler, OK, Robby Thompson (and wife Karen) of Port Orchard, WA, and Melinda Braly (and husband Michael) of Red Oak, TX.

Lucinda was blessed with four grandchildren, Ron Morgan, Samantha Thompson, Ryan Braly, and Michaela Braly. She also has four great-grandchildren.

Cindy was a long-time employee for the Tuloso-Midway Independent School District in Corpus Christi working in the mailroom. After raising her three children, Cindy returned to school at the age of fifty and earned her High School Diploma. She immediately put it to use and began taking college courses at Del Mar College. In 2005, Cindy moved from Texas to Oklahoma and then to Port Orchard, Washington. There she worked at the Kitsap Courthouse for a number of years before retiring. In 2019, Cindy moved back to Texas to be near her family in Red Oak.

Cindy loved life and loved her family. She was quick-witted and never missed an opportunity to say something to lighten the mood in the room. Cindy will be dearly missed by all of those who knew her.

As per her wishes, there will not be a memorial service. She will have her ashes scattered by family in a special location in Washington State.
