Loyd Hogue, Jr.

Loyd Hogue Jr., 71 of Waxahachie, Texas, was at home surrounded by his family when he went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023.

Loyd was born in Dallas, Texas on June 11th, 1951. He attended David Crockett Elementary and Dallas High School, and went on to obtain a degree in horticulture where he learned to garden.

As a teenager, Loyd began his career as a carpenter and soon after became self-employed. He continued his career as a master carpenter throughout his lifetime, enabling him to fulfill his passion of helping others. Loyd had an extremely strong work ethic yet always made time for his loved ones.

Loyd married the love of his life, Elizabeth Kay Collinsworth, on November 8th, 1974. His wife was his everything as were his children and grandchildren. He attended church with his family and gave his life to the Lord at a young age, and he rededicated his life to Christ on April 5th, 1995. Loyd was devoted to his family and friends, had a generous spirit and the biggest heart from which he loved giving to others.

Loyd was a loyal Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers, and Longhorn’s fan. He also loved boxing, stemming from his time in the Golden Gloves as a child, as well as playing cards and golfing with his friends.

Loyd was preceded in death by his wife Kay, his father Sammie Hogue, his mother Rosetta Williams, his mother-in-law Imogene Henson, his brothers Kenneth, Fred and Utah Hogue, sister Zoetta, brother-in-law Dewey Struck, brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Patricia Collinsworth, and other loved ones.

He is survived by his daughter Sharon Junkin and husband Marty, son Butch Amick and his wife Darla, son Ronnie Hogue; grandchildren, Bo, Brittany, Maegan, Taylor, Emma, Nathan, and Abby; great grandchildren, Lauren, Brayden, Grayson, Jaxon, Harper, Jaye, Kayson, and Zachary.
