Louella Izona Freeman Griffin, 96, passed away on July 20, 2019. Louella was born September 8, 1922 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to LV and Jewell Freeman. She grew up in New Harp Texas and as a teenager met her husband, Hubert Griffin, who she would spend 56 years with before his passing in 1996.
Louella worked as a seamstress for several years and always made her children’s clothes. She even made some of the clothes they would perform in as the Griffin Trio. Yes, Louella loved music and was quite the stage mom for several years and had her kids singing and playing at very early ages. She had a great love for antiques as well and owned and operated an antique store in Cleburne Texas for many years. Hubert and Louella moved to Bowie Texas after a few years spent in Arkansas in the 70’s. There the two of them ran an antique shop at the Second Monday Trades Days for many years.
Louella spent the last 7 years at Buffalo Creek Assisted Living in Waxahachie. The family would like to thank all of the staff that took such excellent care of her over her time there. Over the last few months she was also under the care of Bristol Hospice who did a wonderful job in caring for her and our thanks go to them as well.
