Mr. Elrod passed away Monday at the Red Oak Health and Rehab. He was born in Perryton, Texas to James C. and Ada O. (Lea) Elrod. He served in Korea as a jet mechanic. Mr. Elrod taught school for the Dallas Independent School District as well as Tuscon, Arizona Independent School District for many years. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, serving as an elder for 25 years. He also served on the Board of Southern Arizona Bible Camp for 15 years. He loved hunting, camping and traveling.

His survivors include: sons, Michael Elrod and Mickey Elrod of Red Oak, Glen Elrod and wife Lori of Midlothian, Harold Elrod and wife Bonnie of Houston, and Paul Elrod of LaQuinta, CA.; brother, Matt Elrod of Artisia, N.M.; sister, Opal Phillips of Hurst, TX.; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Alta Elrod in 2003.

A memorial service will be 2 PM Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Ovilla Church of Christ with Phil Evanson officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Red Oak.
