Lloyd Stone

July 29, 1922 — July 21, 2015

On July 29, 1922 he was born in a log cabin near Cadiz, Kentucky and raised on the family farm. He was proud to have served his country in the Navy during World War II. He wore many hats during his lifetime; farmer, sailor, US postman, minister, realtor and volunteer for prison ministry and nursing home ministry. He loved the game of checkers and crafted checker boards. Poetry was another passion that he was eager to share and it serves to document family and local history giving insight into his generation and his personal commitment to his faith, his family and his friends. Lloyd finished his race having stayed the course on July 21, 2015 in Carrollton, Texas. He was 92 years old. Preceded in death by his dear wife of 67 years, Lillian Nell Stone, his parents, Bishop Wilson and Bertha Isabel Stone, his brother Orbie Hopson Stone, and four sisters, Goldie Marie Wade, Oletta Mae Audas, Macie Juanita Guier, and Mary Evelyn Bland. He is survived by his daughter, Lana Colleen Crawford, son in law, Ross Crawford, granddaughter Candice Bolivar, grandson in law, Alfonso Bolivar and great-granddaughters Lilliana and Clara Bolivar, his brother Raymond Eugene Stone, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends in Texas, Kentucky and Indiana where he had lived and loved having never met a stranger. Lloyd attended Hanberry School, a country school in Trigg County Kentucky and earned a degree in Religious Education and Bible from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie. Chapel memorial service scheduled at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 W. Highway 287 Business in Waxahachie on July 25, 2015 at 2 pm.
