Lloyd Gordon Rogers, 72, of Corinth, Mississippi, passed away Monday May 31, 2010 from complications of surgery. Gordon died peacefully with his daughters by his side. Gordon was a resident of Waxahachie for over 30 years. He was a member of the Master Gardeners, the Optimist Club, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Gordon was instrumental in the beginning stages of the development of the new Senior Citizen Center. After the death of his wife in 2009, Gordon moved to Mississippi to live with his youngest daughter. Gordon was well respected in the insurance industry throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area where he worked for decades. His hobbies were wood working, making cookies, visiting with his friends on his back porch each morning, and working in his vegetable garden and his flower beds. Gordon was preceded in death by his mother and father, Fred and Vera Rogers, of Midland, Texas and his wife, Dorothy Rogers of Waxahachie. Survivors include his daughter, Tracy Harbour and husband Chris, of Corinth, Mississippi and his daughter Deborah Payne and husband George of Waxahachie, Texas; his sister, Karen Rogers of Midland, Texas; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home 6-8 PM Thursday. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Waxahachie City Cemetery, Waxahachie, Texas.
