Lisa Gayle Lindquist, 42, passed away on November 1, 2024, in Waxahachie, Texas after a lengthy battle with cancer. Lisa was born on April 25, 1982 in Butte, Montana to John and Shelley Pack and moved to the San Francisco Bay area of California when she was 2 years old. She lived there until age 13 when she and her family moved to Arvada, Colorado. She graduated from Brigham Young University in April 2007 and dedicated her career to social work as she worked in the drug court program for the State of Utah.
She was a devoted mother and an active, lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many different callings and responsibilities in her life, but her most cherished assignment was as Young Women's President where she was able to teach and lead the young women of her local congregation, helping them to develop faith in Jesus Christ and His role as our Savior and Redeemer in the plan of salvation.
Lisa served as a full-time missionary for the church in El Salvador from 2003-2005 where she learned and taught the gospel in Spanish. Her missionary service solidified her faith in Jesus Christ and in the restored gospel. She returned to Central America and spent 3 months working in an orphanage in Guatemala.
She met her husband, Michael, in Provo, Utah as she was preparing to graduate college and move anywhere to be done with the life of a student. The fact that Michael hadn't even started his college education when they met surely caused her to doubt if he was the right one as it would mean she would have to continue the college lifestyle longer and help put him through school. To Michael's eternal gratitude, their love for each other was enough for her to endure another four years. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti, Utah temple on August 18, 2007.
Michael's career brought them first to central New York, then New Hampshire, and finally Texas. In every place they lived Lisa made many friends because of her loving demeanor and the kindness that she always showed to others.
She loved Colorado and the mountains, hiking fourteeners and backpacking with her dad and brothers and sister. She also loved to run and did it faithfully before her cancer diagnosis. Her love of running eventually led her to compete in several triathlons as an adult. She also had a passion for skiing and passed that passion along to her husband and children, even teaching her husband how to ski after their marriage. Her patience with him as he fell more times than can be counted was truly appreciated as he can now ski and only fall a couple times! It was one of her greatest disappointments when cancer made it impossible for her to do the things she loved. Even when she couldn’t, she was still focused on serving, worrying about others, and wanting to do her share of the work.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Michael; children, Carter, Allison, Tyler, and Bennett; parents, John and Shelley; siblings, Bryan (Michelle), Jeff (Andrea), Julie, David (Skylar), and Andrew (Jessica); and a many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lowell Frederick Pack, Majorie Pack, Jesse Moroni Hodgson, and Sylva Hodgson.
