Linda Hottel

January 20, 1946 — December 5, 2016

Mrs. Linda Jane Hottel (Russell), of Arlington, TX, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the age of 70 from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
Linda was born to parents Glenn and Bettie Russell (Dorsey) on January 20, 1946 in Dallas, TX. She grew up as the eldest of six and attended H. Grady Spruce High School (Class of 1964) and Cedar Valley College. In 1965, she married Roger Dickerson and had three children. Linda worked for many years at the Dairy Queen in Waxahachie, and was a wonderful horse trainer. In her 40s she made a career change to become a long haul truck driver. She graduated Valedictorian of her class. Linda went on to become a bookkeeper at First Food Company in Dallas and retired in 2011. She was known for her movies, music, extensive owl figurine collection, and her art. Linda was a fierce Scrabble player. She had an immeasurable vocabulary. Many times the family had to use the dictionary rule to verify her words. Linda loved to paint and was quite an accomplished artist. Many of her paintings won awards at the State Fair of Texas. She enjoyed reading and loved to do art projects with her grandchildren. To say that Linda loved movies is an understatement. We were positive at one point she had more movies than Blockbuster. If you want to know who Denzel Washington's biggest fan is, it's Linda. The Equalizer was on constant loop on her TV the last few years. Music was always playing in her home many times loud enough for the entire neighborhood to enjoy. She loved everything from big band to rock and roll.
Linda is survived by her son, Russell Dickerson; her daughter, Joy (Dickerson) Freeman; her daughter Tiffany Dickerson; her sister, Elleen McClean and her brother Jim Russell; grandsons Randy Dickerson, Tanner Freeman, Ryder Freeman, Hunter Freeman, Justin Pilarski, and Colin Pilarski; granddaughters Casey Wilkinson and Haley Wilkinson. Three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands' Roger Dickerson and Charles Hottel, her parents; and her brothers Tommy Reed, Douglas Reed, and Danny Reed.
Linda's wishes are to be cremated and her ashes spread over Roger's grave in Crandall Texas. A celebration of life will take place in Spring 2017. The family appreciates your condolences
