Lillian Neal

Lillian Proffitt Neal, 88 of Waxahachie, passed away early Sunday morning at her residence, January 14, 2018. Mrs. Neal was born February 28, 1929 in Palmer, Texas to the late James Perry and Nannie Irene Adams Proffitt.
Lillian graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1948. She married Jack P. Neal in June 7, 1952 in the First United Methodist Church, Waxahachie. Their wedding was the first in what is now known as the Fidelis Class, which was then used as the sanctuary while the new one was being built.
Lillian had been a bookkeeper/receptionist for Carlisle Chevrolet of Waxahachie, Sodder Chevrolet of Ennis, Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home and Citizens National Bank. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star #599, receiving her 50 year pin award and past president of the Ellis County Art Association. She loved working in her yard and received yard of the month 3 different years. She was an avid quilter, loved handwork and was an artist in Oil Media. Lillian was currently a member of the Farley Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Katie Sharp of Waxahachie and Virginia Cleveland of Waxahachie; also by her dear friends, Tom and Kaye Almand, Randy and D'Anne Harrington and Shelley McDonough.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack P. Neal on February 29, 2000; by her parents, James Perry Proffitt and Nannie Irene Adams; her 3 brothers, Richard, James Perry, Jr. and Willie Doyle; her 4 sisters, Ollie Faye Mathis, Eva Lou Overdirth, Ruby Lee Nelson and Doris Roe.
Services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, with Brother Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home and will last until service time.
Memorials may be made to Farley Street Baptist Church, 1116 Brown Street, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
