Lewis Wilson Springer, age 90

Mr. Springer, lifetime Ellis County resident, passed away Tuesday at Baylor Medical Center, Waxahachie. He was born in Midlothian to Walter K. and Addie (Gable) Springer. Lewis graduated from Midlothian High School in 1932 and married Janiece Hendrixson on January 4, 1941 in Britton, Texas. He served with the US Army Air Corps WWII in the South Pacific with the Signal Corps. After coming home from the war he was employed with Tyler Refrigeration for thirty years as Foreman of the Walk In Department. For the remainder of his retirement years, he worked with his wife at Janiece's Flowers for thirty seven years. He enjoyed his farm, working his cows, woodworking, and overseeing restoration work on their houses on Main Street. He was a lifetime member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Positions that he held at his church were elder, song leader, choir member and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. He especially enjoyed their two caregivers: Debbie Culp and Debby Roan.

His survivors are: his wife, Janiece Hendrixson Springer of Waxahachie; son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Wilson Springer, Jr. and Frances of Red Oak; daughter-in-law, Jackie Springer of Waxahachie; sister, Laura McElroy of Cedar Hill; grandchildren, Joni Dunsmore and husband Kevin of Waxahachie and Kody Harper and wife Mandy of Kingsville; great grandchildren, Frank Jeffery Sica and Gracie Dunsmore; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffery Lee Springer in 1999; brothers, Dan, Bob, Clyde, Paul, Floyd, and Harold; sister, Lillie Price.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 2 PM Thursday, July 14, 2005 at the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Reverend Keith Rice, Reverend Duane Dougherty and Dr. James R. Gilbert officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Springer, Dicky Hendrixson, Kody Harper, James Potter, Paul Richard Switzer and Steve Loftis. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church Elders.
Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery, Ovilla, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Home in Denton.
