Leonard Limmer

February 22, 1929 — October 29, 2017

Leonard Lee Limmer of Glenn Heights and Waxahachie, Texas passed away Sunday, October 29. 2017 at his home surrounded by his family members. Leonard was born February 22, 1929 in Hamilton, Texas to the late Hubert and Edna Hoherz Limmer. He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Maxine Limmer, his brother Curtis Limmer and his mother and father, Edna Hoherz Limmer and Herbert Limmer.

Leonard honorably served his country as a Sergeant First Class during the Korean conflict. His great love and appreciation for his country would ultimately shape his civilian life. After his military service Leonard earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education and served his community as an educator in the Dallas Independent School District for thirty-six years until his retirement in 1989. In retirement, Leonard enjoyed playing golf, going fishing, doing crossword puzzles and cheering on the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers. Perhaps most of all, Leonard enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his wife Norma Lodes Limmer of Glenn Heights, his son David Lee Limmer and wife Susan of Tyler, Texas; his daughter Barbara Ann Dye and husband Greg of Lago Vista, Texas; step son Kelly Nabors and wife Julie of Maybank, Texas; step daughter Tanna Phillippi and husband Nick of Wichita, Kansas; brother James H. Limmer and wife Tara of Brenham, Texas; sisters Norma Phillips and Merlene Bartlett both of Gatesville, Texas, and his three grandchildren: Christopher Wood, Miranda Limmer and Beaux Limmer.

Leonard was a long-standing member of the Ferris Heights Methodist Church. His faith in God remained unwavering, even as he courageously battled serious illness in the twilight of his life. After living a life full of love, purpose and faith, Leonard has shed the encumbrances of this world and now resides in paradise with his Lord and Savior.
