Mrs. Alford passed away Thursday morning in the company of her family. Lela was born the daughter of E.D. and Ruby (Stroud) Oglesby in Ellis County. She was raised in Waxahachie, attended Waxahachie Schools, and w as a member of the Oglesby Trio. She married William Alford July 31, 1953 in Ellis County. She was employed at Walmart in Waxahachie retiring after 19 years. She was a member of the South Park Assembly of God Church. She loved to babysit her great grandchildren.

Surviving here are: her son, Jerry L. Alford and his wife Amy; daughters, Diane Laymon and her husband Todd, Donnette Taylor, all of Waxahachie; brother, Jimmy Oglesby and his wife Wanda; sisters, Betty Woodard and Juanita Holley all of Waxahachie; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and two brothers.

The family will receive friends and relatives 7-9 PM Friday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Saturday, March 31, 2007 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Reverend Phillip Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Cemetery.
