Lance Corporal Seibert passed away early Tuesday morning, July 15, 2003 in North Carolina. Lance Corporal Seibert was born in Dallas, Texas to Philip H. and Judy (Ford) Seibert. He attended Red Oak Schools and graduated from the American Christian Academy. Scott joined the US Marine Corps in April 2002. He was a veteran of the Iraq Freedom War redeploying to Camp Lejeune June 22, 2003. Scott served with the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Task Force Tarawa. Scott's unit encountered heavy fighting during the first weekend of the war at Nasiririyah. The task force helped demilitarize several hospitals and schools and defeated the Iraqi 11th Infantry Division and remnants of the 51st Mechanized Division, capturing 1,000 prisoners of war. They also conducted humanitarian aid south of Baghdad and assisted in the rescue of Pvt. Jessica Lynch.
Scott is survived by his parents, Philip and Judy Seibert; sister and brother-in-law, Kelley Ruiz and her husband Joey all of Waxahachie; grandmothers, Lou Shoemaker of Marshall and Beth Seibert of Dallas; aunts and uncles, Pat and Joe Thorn of Dallas, Bud and Martha Ford of Marshall and Eva and Bill Solomon of Garland; two nephews, Jacob and Jordan Ruiz of Waxahachie; and the Band of Brothers of the Marine Corps. His grandfathers, J. P. Seibert and Ed Shoemaker preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at the Waxahachie Civic Center, 1950 N IH 35, Waxahachie, Texas with Reverend Bruce Zimmerman officiating. Pallbearers will be Marine Corps members. Interment will follow in the Red Oak Cemetery with full military honors.
