Larry Wayne Willig, born February 16th, 1947, of Waxahachie, passed away on March 30th, 2022. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children at the age of 75.
Larry married the love of his life, Vicki Dulin, in 1966. He joined the United States Army, and they were stationed in El Paso where they met many friends & told stories of great fun and comradery. After being honorably discharged, he went on to complete an associate degree.
It was after coming back from El Paso, Larry & Vicki welcomed 3 children: Amy, Cory & Ashley. Family vacations, family reunions and get-togethers are something Larry enjoyed most. He was always up for playing cards, throwing some horseshoes, or a friendly volleyball game. Everyone wanted Larry as their horseshoe partner, he was that good. He always loved country music dancing, fishing, grilling & a good swimming pool. He was a simple man who was content with his family, a good ball-cap, and a pick-up truck. Larry coached little league, as baseball was one of his favorite things and he rarely ever missed a Rangers game. He was a hard-working family-man in every sense and retired from Lockheed Martin after 28 years of being a machinist. Larry did not stop working, but he was extremely proud of his tenure with Lockheed.
Larry liked building things and would often create gifts for his loved ones from wooden reindeers at Christmas time to little baby doll beds for his daughters and nieces... anything Vicki would think up. He could fix most anything and usually had the tool you needed, he was there each and every time he was called upon by his family to help, no matter who it was. Vicki’s family adored Larry and he was very special to them.
The real sweet times in Larry’s life came once his first Grandson, Jason, was born. His truest best friend & everything partner for many years. As the grandchildren kept coming, his heart and light kept growing and you could see and feel the overwhelming love he had for each of them. He truly loved being a PoPo.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Vicki Dulin Willig, his parents Frederick & Elsie Willig, in-laws Earl & Juanita Dulin, and two special nephews, Robert & Rodney Dulin.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Amy Garcia and husband Levi Garcia of Seguin, TX; his son Cory Willig and wife Liz Willig of Fort Worth, TX; his daughter Ashley Hargrave and husband Eric Hargrave of Broussard, LA. Grandsons Levi Garcia, Jason Willig, Kyle Willig, Caden Willig, Caleb Willig, Ryan Hall and Hunter Hargrave, wife Victoria Hargrave. Granddaughters Harper Garcia & Kylie Hall. 2 great-grandchildren, Porter & Amelia Hargrave. Sisters Linda Bell and Husband James Bell, Barbara Pope, & Donna Armstrong, and husband Steve Armstrong. Brothers Joe Michael Willig and wife Beth Willig, Ricky Willig & wife Naring. Brother-in-law Billy Earl Dulin and wife Linda Dulin, also numerous nieces and nephews who loved him very much as well.
Larry was the son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle & friend that anyone could count on to be there. He loved his family unconditionally. We will miss him tremendously, his beautiful smile and kind heart, but knowing he is in Heaven welcomed by so many loved ones, especially the love of his life, we are comforted in his peace.
